Flyers show character to salvage a point
With our number one goalie out with an upper body injury the Flyers showed true heart and character in a come from behind tie to earn a much needed point. With #29 Philly out we had journey man goalie Oliver Steinke step in and played absolutely phenomenal keeping the first place high scoring Predators to just 2 goals.
The Flyers new they were in for a battle Sunday night facing the Predators who have walked through every team so far going undefeated. The first period was back and forth with both teams having great opportunities to open the scoring but both goalies were sharp and up to the challenge. The Flyers outshot the Predators 9-6 but unable to put anything on the scoreboard.
The second period seen the Predators take control and totally dominate the game and midway into the period score the first goal of the game, and before the Flyers could regroup the Predators scored again almost a minute later taking a 2-0 lead halfway through the game. The rest of the period saw the Predators pressing hard but Oliver doing everything he could to make sure that we were still in the game. The Predators outshot the Flyers 11-6.
The third period belonged to the Flyers as they completely outshot the Predators 11-4 and kept the pressure on for the full ten minutes. With six minutes gone and frustration setting in the Flyers finally got on the board when #19 Pazzy hit #13 Jordan with a pass and Jordan went shelf on blocker side (you cut him Rock, you see he's not a machine he's a man). The Flyers seemed to get their second wind as they kept the pressure on the Predators forcing them to make mistakes and 21 seconds later #91 Boden with a beautiful solo effort tied it at 2. The Predators goalie was the only reason that they were able to come away with a point as the Flyers were just smothering them and any opportunities that the Predators had were easily turned away by Oliver. The Flyers showed great heart in not folding after the second but coming back strong and showing their true colors.
