Call up was the difference
The Flyers were once again without their starting goalie whose upper body injury was a little more serious than expected and was sidelined by a doctors recommendation. So we used call up Andrew Goetz who played absolutely fantastic earning a well deserved shutout
The game was a tightly fought battle with both teams having quality opportunities but unable to beat the goalies. It's always difficult for a team to play in front of an unfamiliar goalie and trying to understand their tendencies, goalies are a different breed. But coach Chad called out Goetz and said "show them why you're a select goalie" and boy did he ever. He was by far the best player on the ice for both teams. As I was watching the Senators pressure the Flyers in our end I seen Goetz was in a zone, the Senators had nothing to shoot at every angle was reduced to a pinhole and only a perfect shot could of beat him and to their credit the Senators tried but didn't have the time to get the perfect shot off as the Flyers were doing everything they could to help Goetzy out. The Flyers opened the scoring with 46 seconds left in the second when #7Taran sent a breakout pass to #91Boden who carried it out of our end and deep into the Senators zone when he centered in to #71Luca who buried his first of the year. The third period was frustrating for the Senators as Goetzy turned away everything they threw at him and with just under a minute left #16Matt who couldn't hit the net from the hash marks put it into the empty net from our blue line to seal the deal and preserve the victory. Would like to take this moment to thank Goetzy for stepping in and stealing the show.
