Welcome to the 2018-19 hockey season
The coaching staff would like to welcome everyone to the Chedoke Flyers and by the looks of it it should be a promising season.
Well that's one way to make a statement on opening night, an absolutely great game from the net out. It all started with our keeper and definitely our biggest personality Philip, he was outstanding in making everything look easy by always being in position and not giving Stars much to shoot at. With Phil making the saves it gave the guys the confidence to open up a bit and start being offensive. With just 49 seconds left in the first #24 Matt "Cap" Underwood opened the scoring with a smart shot from the point that went through some legs and found the inside of the post, #19 Liam "Pazzy" Pasinato did some hard work in the corner to get the puck to #9 Mitchell Court {nicname to come soon} who fed a beauty pass to Cap who put us up 1-0. The second was similar to the first with lots of neutral zone battles and #29 Philip "Da Mouth" Mattaliano making the saves look easy. With 2:05 left in the second #22 Ryan "Snipe" White did just that as he buried a sweet pass from #16 Matthew "Mr. Punctuality" Cianciosi 2-0 Flyers. The coaching staff were stumped at the start of the game because we only had 3 d-men and were deciding on who the fourth would be when Matthew showed up 10 mins before game time {hence the nicname} and he made the decision for us. The third started a little faster when #19 Pazzy scored with a quick shot after some hard work behind the Stars net by #34 Sebastion "Off the glass" Carswell who made a nice pass out front to Pazzy 3-0. Shortly after that the Stars finally broke the egg and scored what can be described as a fluke a seeing eye goal 3-1. But two minutes later #16 Mr. Punctuality sent #19 Pazzy in alone and Pazzy channeled his inner Datsuyk and had the goalie going the wrong way 4-1. The game got a little chippy as the Stars couldn't solve "Da Mouth" and our defensive zone coverage was solid so they took to hitting and chirping. With just over two minutes left in the game #34 "Off the glass" did something unusual he hit the twine with a blistering slapshot after toe-dragging a forward when he received a great pass from #13 Jordan "Thor" Baranowski 5-1. With the game basically over and nothing left in some of the guys legs and Fortnight calling the Stars scored another cheezy goal with eight seconds left leaving the final score 5-2 Flyers.
