We hosted our first Select Tournament in 1999, with a goal of providing a competitive event for teams throughout Ontario. Over the years, the tournament has continued to grow into one of the premier Select Tournaments in the Province.
In 2005, the tournament was dedicated to Ian Blackman. Ian grew up in our organization, and had just completed his last year of midget hockey when he took ill that spring. He will always be rememberd by his friends at Chedoke for his competitive spirit and sportsmanship. We hope that the players involved in the Winter Classic continue these virtues that Ian was known for. Since this time, we now dedicate the Winter Classic not only to Ian's memory, but to memory of the former players and volunteers of the Chedoke family who are no longer with us. Without all their contributions, the CMHL would not be where it is today.
In 2014, the Tournament Organizing Committee re-branded the event as the Chedoke Winter Classic.
