BCHL Tournament of Friends
Last weekend's tournament was a great learning experience for all of us. The game results were not favourable but there were a tonne of bright spots throughout the weekend and I'm very proud of the team's effort!
Areas of improvement:
1) Working as a team! One piece that was evident throughout the weekend is that teams that have played together before have a huge advantage. Without developing chemistry we are going to have a difficult season since we are already younger and smaller than most of our competition. So the next few practices will have a strong focus on setting up in the offensive zone, passing in the neutral zone and playing positionally in our end
2) Size matters! We will have to do a better job of getting used to the size difference. Two quick answers to this are: passing more and out hustling our opponents!
Over the weekend I would like recognize the efforts of 3 stars:
1) Liam Thorne was an absolute beast on defence putting his body in front of a lot of shots, interrupting passes and showed a lot of leadership throughout the weekend!
2) Jeremy Goodman who kept his motor running throughout the games and worked on his positioning.
3) Landen Hess who faced a tonne of shots and a lot of traffic in front of him and made some impossible saves throughout the weekend!
Great work team! See you Saturday!
