Tegs Tools
Tegs Tools - Hamilton Ontario. It's all about family. Tegs Tools started back in 1979. Leo and Esther, together with their sons Moishe and Mike, sold tools stocked in their basement at six local flea markets every week. As demand grew they rented a small warehouse on King St, and then decided to sell from there as well. In 1980 they moved to Ottawa St. and in 1982 they moved again to their current location on Barton St. Once settled in, they decided to concentrate their efforts at the store and stopped the flea market circuit for good. They continued to grow and in 1983 they added an additional 3500 sq. ft to the existing 1600 sq. ft. location. By the end of 2002 it was time for another expansion and the store was open on Upper James. After a few short years, the second store continued to grow, and moved into its new location on Rymal Rd. in May of 2009. Tegs caters to a broad mix of customers, from school boards, hobbyists and the construction trade. The typical customer comes in not only for stationary machinery, but also drill and router bits, abrasives, hand tools, power tools, and air tools. And whether they are walk-in consumers, construction professionals or institutional / industrial customers, they can all expect the same professional, courteous service that Tegs is known for. The Tegs philosophy of good customer service includes providing good quality, well priced products in a timely manner. This is why their radio commercials always end with “the right tool, the right price, the right place”. What sets Tegs apart? Owner Moishe replies, “If you can’t get it at Tegs you can't get it anywhere”. Tegs carries a very large inventory in stock for immediate delivery/pick up and as Moishe says, “We know our stuff and can give good reliable advice and steer someone in the right direction”. Adding, “We can’t beat everyone all the time, but we have what you need, and we’ll treat you right”. When asked what customers may not already know about Tegs, Moishe replies, “That we’ve always been family owned, now 3rd generation”. “That we invest a great deal of time and effort in our community, sponsoring kids’ soccer and hockey.” Moishe goes on to say, “We give a scholarship to a Mohawk College and a Hamilton board excelling pupil on an annual basis, and we have a close association with Skills Canada”. What’s next for Tegs? Well, the next generation has taken over with his son Eli at Barton St. and his late brother Mike’s son Gabe at Rymal Road. Moishe says that they look forward to many more years of service to the Greater Hamilton Community, with more participation with local schools and colleges, and many more happy customers. If you’re a fan of stationary or portable power tools in the Hamilton Ontario area, you more than likely already know Tegs Tools. If you don’t, a visit to one of their two locations would definitely be worth your while.
