2020/21 Season Update
Submitted By admin on Sunday, August 23, 2020
Over the past few months, the Hamilton Minor Hockey Council has been working with the City of Hamilton, the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, and the Ontario Hockey Federation to find a way that House League hockey can be offered during these trying times.
Subject to approval by the local Health Unit and our governing body, the plan is based on the province staying in Stage 3 and will require volunteer support from many parents.
To start with, we need to ascertain the number of players wishing to play.
If you have not registered and your child wants to play, please register as soon as possible.
Follow THIS link to register.
The cut-off date for registration is September 15. Given the constraints we are under, we will not be able to accept any players after that date.
If you have already registered, please contact Jeff Reynolds at
[email protected] to advise of your plans for the 2020/21 season.
SEASON FORMAT
The season will begin November 1 and end March 14 (the start of March Break). There will be a 2-week break at Christmas.
Teams will practice and play games on scheduled evenings throughout the week and on weekends.
Running this program means that your child is likely going to play at a different arena than you are expecting. We trust that this will be looked upon as a great experience, providing an opportunity to play the game we love.
Due to the virus, there will be limited ice available. Our current plan is to use the ice surfaces listed below, however there are no guarantees.
• Initiation Program (U7) – Quad Pad (Mohawk 4 Ice Centre)
• Novice (U9) – Quad Pad or Rosedale
• Atom (U11), Peewee (U13), Bantam (U15) – Lawfield Arena (Bill Friday Arena)
• Midget (U18), Juvenile (U21) – Chedoke Arena
Based on the limits to the number of players that can be on the ice and our governing bodies rules, we will be playing a modified 4-on-4 game.

There will be no playoffs, Super Saturday nor City Championship play.
Select will not be played this year as per OHF and Health Authority guidelines.
To provide this program, we will need the support of our volunteers more than ever before. Looking forward to seeing you on the ice soon!
