We are pleased to welcome Jeff Schwoob as Head Coach of the Chedoke Atom Select Team this upcoming season. This will be his 5th year coaching minor hockey. He has spent the past 4 years in the IP program and assisting with the Velenosi Hockey School out of the Quad Pad, as well as coaching at Chedoke. Last year, Jeff coached the Chedoke Novice Select Team House to a very successful season.
Jeff played minor hockey in Hamilton throughout his own hockey career and later had the opportunity with Junior “A” and Junior “B” teams before playing for Niagara College where he finished up his competitive hockey career. He continues to play in his work league today.
Jeff says he coaches minor hockey because it is exciting and he enjoys developing young hockey players and seeing them utilize what they have learned in practice in the game.
His main objectives for the season are to have fun, develop skill and be competitive in every game. And his team, including coaching staff, will strive to do their best to ensure a successful season. Players will be expected to compete hard, listen to their coaches at all times and RESPECT all players, coaches and referees.
He would like to equip his team to play a skilled and challenging game with the focus on development as a whole. He will emphasize game play and understanding the game in both ends of the ice.
Practices will be at a scheduled time each week, some of which will be used for exhibition games. In addition to exhibition games, Jeff plans to enter four tournaments including the year-end Alliance Championships. Off ice training will be an important part of the team plan for this year, working on team building as well as strength and endurance.
Jeff is very excited for the start of the season this year and hopes every member of the Chedoke Atom House League who desires a challenging, competitive, fun, exciting game of hockey will come and try out.
