Penguins up a creek without an Hoar
(Yeah I thought about that headline all the way to work. Pretty good though right)
#71 Evan Hoar put on display tonight that would have Ovechkin envious, (was going to use Austin Matthews but didn't want to exaggerate 😁) potting the trick and picking up a helper to record his first 4 point game of the season. Leading the Knights to 8-3 victory over the very strong 2nd place Penguins tonight.
As a coach you tend to be repeating yourself over and over again hoping that what your saying will eventually sink in and one of my favorites is to start on time. Well tonight our game was at 5:30pm and I think the boys started at 5, scoring 3 quick goals and taking a commanding 5-0 lead after 1period. Led by #34 Seba who notched 2 and with the help of #8 Agostino set up #71 Evan for his first all within 36 seconds of their first shift. Evan made it 4-0 with his second of the game from #97 Ozzy and #19 Pazzy. #6 Jack buried his first of 2 in the last minute of the first w ith another assist going to #8 Agostino rounding out the score 5-0. The second period was pretty much a stalemate as the Penguins threw everything they could at us but solid D and great backchecking along with tons of puck pressure resulted in just a few chances that #1 Andrew easily turned away. With 2 minutes left in the second #19 Pazzy made a methodical rush finding open ice through paitence and vision to make it 6-0 and with just 47 seconds left in the second the piece de resistance the hatty the trick the stooges the blind mice whatever you want to call #71 scored his third of the night. But the pens were not going quietly and with 1 second left in the second scored what can only be described as a cheesy goal to crack the goose egg. 7-1 after 2. 2 minutes into the third #6 Jack scored his second of the game with the assists going to #34 Seba and#71 Evan making it 8-1 and basically over but the pens got 2 more to before the end of the game and final score 8-3. Now I usually single out great plays or efforts by individuals but when the whole team plays fantastic and gives the effort they did tonight it makes it hard to figure it out cause everyone is doing their job and winning their battle's. So with that being said there was one true standout in my eyes and hopefully a breakthrough in confidence and that player is our Player of the game.
#4 Grant Kelly was absolutely awesome tonight clearing the puck out of our zone managing the front of net and making it impossible for the opposition to get anything started.
Please remember that next weekend our game is on Saturday and practice is on Sunday but practice is optional due to superbowl, just please let the staff know if your not coming..
